There’s a buzz in the air with our hard working youth theatre, EYT as the 8th and 9th of March gets closer and closer. That’s when they’ll perform their play DNA by Dennis Kelly. This hour long drama follows the dark deeds of a group of teenage bullies and the consequences that haunt them. Youth Theatre really has stepped up a notch and the performances are something they can all be proud of. Please come along and support us if you can, though I’d suggest no children under 12 – it’s just too disturbing (though compelling!).
Elsewhere in the school, students are working on performances for Easter and beginning to form ideas for film work in the second half of the term. Creativity abounds! Well, that was a pretty wet January and I’ve just finished a play run in Loreto Foxrock, where I teach drama. Feeling a little blue because it’s all over and I’m going to miss my great cast and crew. But, lucky me, I get to go straight back into the next project – which is a play with the Youth Theatre called DNA (a hard hitting look at the consequences of bullying). That’s due to be staged early March so watch this space for more details – we really want to get bums on seats for two or possibly three performances.
All other classes are working on various projects, which will be staged just before Easter. We are working on mime, movement to music and group poetry and expect the performances to impress you! After Easter, the plan is to do a little film-making and the students are very excited about it. More on that again, but in the meantime, keep an eye on the website for photos, film clips and up to date information on everything that’s going on in the school. Here’s hoping February weather is better! |
